RVIA Show in Louisville, KY – December 1-3, 2009

postcard1When:  December 1st – December 3rd, 2009
Where:  Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY
Hours:  Tuesday, December 1st from 9 am – 5:30 pm, Wednesday, December 2nd from 9 am – 5:30 pm and Thursday, December 3rd from 9 am – 3:30 pm

If you are in the RV Industry you know the Louisville Show is the biggest show of the year and a “must attend” event.  This year you will have less walking to do as they are only using about 50% of the facility (Kentucky Exposition Center).  As your looking at the front of the building… from the main arena area (Freedom Hall) to the left, which has typically been a pretty active area, will not be used this year.  The registration, which has always been right in front of the arena will be located at the far right in the south wing.

You’re probably wondering the same thing we were wondering… why so little space?

I called the RVIA offices and they said the decision to use that amount of space was based on what the RV manufacturers told them they needed and the needs of the suppliers who will have a booth at the event.

For those of you that attend the event, rest assured, you will be talking to the cream of the crop.  I expect the companies displaying there this year will be around through thick and thin.

As usual, RVUSA.com will be there to show you the plans we offer, online tools we’ve created specifically for the RV Industry, make sure your questions are answered, etc.  Our booth will be located in the South Wing, #B112 & B113.

Will you be attending the RVIA show in Louisville?

In my conversations with RV Dealers across the US over the past 2-3 weeks they are telling me that things are starting to pick up a bit.  Buyers are more optimistic.  RV Dealership owners and Sales Managers have positive things to say for the first time in a few months.

One dealer I talked to yesterday said last year was his best year ever and now this year is turning out to be his best year ever.

I’m continuing to look for new ways to help you sell more RVs online including submitting the latest 100 units posted on RVUSA.com to Twitter.com.  I just checked the stats for that feed and it’s generated 935 click-throughs in the past 7 days!!

RV Pricing Online for New RVs

Over the years, RV Manufacturers like R-Vision, Keystone RV, Forest River and Fleetwood have imposed strict rules and regulations on what pricing RV Dealers can post online for New Current Year and/or Never Titled units.  This seriously restricts RV Dealers ability to sell NEW units online and really only left them with two options:

  1. Show no pricing or Call Dealer for Pricing
  2. Show the MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested List Price) or MAP (Minimum Advertised Price)

The first option gives your website visitors, which are potential customers, the feeling that the dealer is not posting the price online so they aren’t tied to a certain price and can charge whatever they want.  When looking to purchase a big ticket item like an RV, house, etc., I, like most people, want to know the price up front.  Visitors don’t have time to waste looking at units they know they can’t afford.  This option leaves them frustrated, which is usually when I get an email wondering why “we” don’t put pricing online.

With the second option, you run the risk of scaring potential customers away with pricing that’s not really what they can or will actually pay for the RV.  If you go this route, I highly recommend that you have a disclaimer on each unit page that clearly states the pricing shown is MSRP or MAP, which is the only pricing the manufacturer will allow you to display online and to contact you via email or phone for your sale price.  That being said, how many of those shoppers have the time or patience to email or call?  What if they email and it gets lost in cyber space?  What if they call, have to leave a message but no one returns the call?

Not to toot our own horn (toot – toot), but we created a “work-around” that solves both issues above and helps both your visitors and your dealership.

Website visitors love this tool because they can get your “Sale Price” instantly via email and the RV Dealers love it because they get a copy of the Sale Price inquiries generated through their inventory.  This means more sales leads for you from happy shoppers because they now feel you care so much about them that you took the time to implement this extremely helpful tool that allows them to shop online, which is the whole point.

If you would like to use our GET SALE PRICE tool on your website and/or inventory, send me an email or give me a call (866-643-4625 x 120).

MySpace:  Click HERE to become a friend of RVUSA.com on MySpace.com

On the RVUSA.com Facebook page, I’m posting updates about our new website tools and features we are adding or have added, when a new company signs up with us and any other tidbits of knowledge you need to know about.

On Twitter, we are NOW posting up to five (5) RV For Sale ads per hour.  So if you are a Dealer Partner or Platinum Dealer on our website – your inventory is getting posted to Twitter.com for you.  I just checked the Stats in Twitter for the past seven days and it’s has generated 171 clicks on the RV’s we’ve posted for sale.  I expect that number to at least double with the changes I just made to that feed.

On MySpace, it’s more of a relaxed environment, not really pushing RVs for Sale but would really like to gather a network of MySpace RVers to share ideas with and build relationships with anyone in the RV Industry who are on that website.

Everyone has a website they prefer and I want to make sure I’m accessible to you on as many as I can, so if I’ve missed one that you are on, please let me know.

Obama to annouce grant for Elkhart County

obama_portrait_146pxElkhart County has the fastest rising unemployment in the nation, 18.9 percent in March.  Preliminary figures show it dropped to 16.8 percent in June.

The White House said the president, when he visits the Monaco RV plant in Wakarusa with Vice President Joe Biden, during a stop Wednesday in Detroit, will “be making an annoucement on grants for advanced battery and electric vehicle manufacturer.”

This will be President Obama’s third visit to that area, speaking to an invitation-only audience at the Monaco RV plant, which was purchased this summer by Navistar International Corp.

July 2009 Stats for RVUSA.com!!

I have exciting news for my awesome design, programming and support team, and the outstanding friends we are privileged to call customers!!

RVUSA.com had 1,794,072 visitors last month.
Of those, 569,883 were unique visitors!!

A couple months ago, RVTraderOnline.com sent out an email with their traffic stats, which said they had 584,520 visitors per month.

The new RVUSA.com website design has catapulted us to a solid #2 position behind RVTraderOnline.com, with a good chance of overtaking the lead they’ve held in the industry for website traffic.

Here’s some more stats that I found that I thought you would find interesting:

  • RVUSA.com has 19,372 RVs listed For Sale
  • RVUSA.com has 43,400 pages indexed with Google
  • According to Compete.com, our monthly change is up over 12% and our yearly change is up almost 22%
